restaurant First impression is too good n very helpful staff and good location.
Disappointed. Over priced meal. The food was just ok, nothing special. The steak and roast beef were not better then any local restaurant for half the price. Save your money and go somewhere else. The ambience wasn't anything special. Overpriced.
I attended a stag at The Octagon, and this was my first time attending the restaurant. I went into this experience with high expectations. All I knew about this restaurant was that it was supposed to be an expensive, but quality place. What I found out was quite the opposite. This was definately not the worst restaurant i've ever been to. The interior decor was unique but not warm and cozy, not that it's supposed to be. The servers and staff were adequate but never the most friendly or hospitable. They were all very capable of doing their jobs, but never really made you feel welcome. I'm not picky about this fact, so I was fine with that. I cared about most about the food. The food started with a variety of appetizers. Prawns, bacon wrapped scallops and garlic bread were all brought to the table. All three were good, but not great. No real problems there. I ordered the ribs, and this was where I had issues. They were overdone and very tough. I know it's a steakhouse, but I figured they could do ribs right. My good friend ordered the peppercorn steak and was not thrilled with that either. It's not that any of this food was bad, it just didn't live up to my expectations which may have been a little higher than they should have been. Overall, based on my experience at The Octagon, I would recommend that everybody try it once, but only for the unique experience. Maybe I just need to try it again, but the one time I did go did nothing to entice me to return.
I had been meaning to go here for a long time; finally went; I had the chicken which was amazing; service was superb; made me feel like royalty! will def return :)
First impression was good, Free valet parking, We walked into the restaurant and did not even get a hello or a greeting of any kind just a stare, and then I got asked if I had a reservation, We were seated near the fireplace in a cozy booth, My wife looked and me and said what is wrong with that guy, I just laughed, We ordered a couple of drinks and got served with garlic bread, pickles, olives and peppers, Garlic bread was really good. We ordered a ceaser salad for two to start and was prepared at our table, For thirty dollars we thought we would get a full plate of salad rather than a small serving, The wife ordered the filet, I chose the baby back ribs, We asked the server for a wine list to order a bottle of wine, That never showed up and I had to ask again, We ordered a bottle of california wine that was ok for 90 dollars, Our food arrived a few minutes after we got our wine, The plates looked bland and not what I expected for the price, Mushrooms on my spouse's plate we over cooked and salty, mashed potatoe was luke warm at best, Vegetables were tasteless and cold,The filet was ordered medium, it was rare and had to get send back, When it arrived for the second time it was black on the outside overcooked,My ribs were overcooked, The server Told us thats how we make our ribs here but did offer my wife another steak, She said its ok this will do.We skipped dessert and just sat around drinking our wine,Had a couple of coffee's and asked for the check from our server. On our way out we did get asked how our eveing was, I did mention that I was not happy with our meals and the steak and ribs were overdone, I got asked if I let the server no about our food. I answered that did not solve the problem and left. Not impressed.
