Went to try out the wings. You would think that wings are not hard to get right, right? The website says these are anchor bar wings and anchor bar they are not! The wings didn't even look like wings but rather breaded chicken clumps. The sauce didn't even taste good. If the wings were better then this could be a great hangout since the decor is very impressive and the location is great. Wings need work.
Me and my fiance both live in burlington and have been looking forward to trying it out as the outside looks quite plesant. From walking in the fron foyer things started to look good, warm smiles, sharp server uniforms, everyone seemed friendly and eagar to serve. We were quite suprised upon sitting down as the server rolled out that cheap sheet of paper very roadhouse style. Judging from the front you would think this is more of a fine dining Italian restaurant. The dining room was also very wide open and very noisy. I could hardly believe the quality of food at this place!! This is the single reason why we will never be returning. I had the Baked Penne with sausage (can't remember the exact name of the dish) and it was VERY DRY other than for the pool of oil at the bottom of the plate, VERY bland and very dissapointing. My FIance had the Spagetti and meatballs which LOOKED nice on the plate but WOW!! My fiance said the sause tasted canned and that the meatballs were very tasteless. So I decided to try one and I nearly gaged. I couldn't believe it!! The meatballs TASTED LIKE DOG FOOD! We could not believe how a place intended to specialize in Italian Eatery could so BADLY screw up Spagetti and Meatballs. We complained to the server and the "Bossman" came to our table and we explained the problem. He said he would go back and try the "dog food meatballs" for himself. 5 minuites later the server came out and said the whole evening was on them and we could have any dessert of our choosing, providing we gave them another chance another evening. Regardless we will never be coming back! BE WARNED!!
Not being from Oakville, it was a bit of a trek to get out to try this new restaurant I had heard so much about from my friends. However, I was not disappointed and am looking forward to my next visit! The food was great, mussels among some of the best I've ever had, great spicy penne (a favourite of mine...) and my friend loved her chicken parmesan. The service was fast, friendly and professional. (and having worked in customer service myself, I'm very very picky!) The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, and the bar provided a great place to chill and have a glass of wine after dinner. All in all a great experience that I have already recommended to friends and family! Will definitly go back.
After reading a few reviews on the restaurant I was a bit concerned about service issues at the Olive Press, however it is quite clear that these issues have been solved. Not only was service friendly and quick, but the food was FANTASTIC and the atmosphere second to none! I have been to several Italian restaurants in the Oakville/Burlington area and this rates as the best. Highly recommended for all families.
Went to dinner last night, started off great we had the garlic white pizza, came out a little burnt thats nuthing to stress over, pasta was good and dessert was great...on my way out passing the kitchen i see one of the cooks pulling something out of the oven as he takes the lid off a meat ball falls on the floor the cook looks around and doesnt realize anyone saw and puts it back into the pan and continues to deliver it to the "pasta station" where the pasta cook laughs it off along with the other cook they shrug their shoulder and continue to plate it, then i notice the restaurant owner have eye contact with the cook that dropped the meat ball and puts his finger to his mouth as to say "dont tell anyone". Absolutely Disgusting!
