You can't beat this pub for a great menu, fair pricing and excellent meals. We eat here on a regular basis with our children and have yet to be disappointed. The pub is pretty cosy once settled in and the staff are friendly. They also offer a chalkboard menu of specials and serve a really good choice of fish. During the day is less busy as it gets really packed - especially on a saturday night. Great place to eat and if you're an expat from UK, lots of fellow countrymen!
Good pub located in the heart of Oakville. Typical of pub food.
We arrived at 7.00pm on a Saturday night and the pub was packed. We waited approx. 5 minutes and were given a table, then the nightmare began. We waited approximately 15 minutes before we were approached again at which time we attempted to order a drink and our food at the same time. The girl was polite but informed us that we would have to wait for the regular waitress, as she was simply helping out and could not take the food order. Another 15 minutes and our drink had not come. The girl passed our table at least five times, but did not so much as acknowledge us. We finally called her over and asked about it and she said she would be right back. Another wait. Finally after 35 minutes the waitress showed up and took our food order. We were trying to decide whether to leave or not,but were so hungry we knew if we went elsewhere we would have to go through the routine again, so we toughed it out. Finally she came over and took our order, we mentioned at that time they needed at least two extra waitresses for the crowd that were there, and she agreed. She was polite, but very harried. We ordered and within 15 minutes finally got the food. It was very good. The tomato chicken soup was excellent, the beer batter on the fish was crispy & delicious. I only ordered the single serving of fish and it was plenty. We noticed the table next to us had ordered the two pieces and it was huge. My wife said her perch dinner was worth the wait. Over all, the food was worth the wait, and for that reason we will come back. Please, please, please, management get the necessary wait staff. To have to wait as long as we did, regardless of the crowd is simply not acceptable and trust me when I tell you that if you do not, no matter how good the food is, you will lose business.
It is time to tear everything out of this pub and redo it. It smells old. It looks disgustingly dirty inside. This affected how I felt about the food that was served. I did not eat most of my meal - although not awful, I kept wondering what might have crawled into the food during preparation! My colleagues felt the same way. This place should be completely gutted, fumigated, and "borne again". Definitely recommend that you go ELSEWHERE.
