Excellent restaurant!

Tonight was my sixth visit to Tyrone. I've been there four times for their Tuscan brunch, and this was my second time for supper. It is always a great experience. I can't believe the price of the fixed price meals... previously I paid $35 for five courses at supper, or $25 for five courses at brunch, but tonight was "date night" (every Thursday) so two 4-course meals with a bottle of wine was $70. Tonight they served raw oysters, corn-lamb soup, bouillabaisse, and Tiramisu. It was all perfect. The room is lovely; the chairs are comfortable; the wait staff are very pleasant and attentive. But the main thing is that the food is so well prepared - no matter what they serve, the execution is wonderful. SInce I always eat the fixed price menu, I guess I've eaten 29 courses there, and I haven't been disappointed by one yet. Oh - and the crusty olive bread is incredible.

I recently visited Tyrone T's in Waterloo. It was my self, my wife and a few friends. I came in with no expectations due to the comments made on here, but thought I would give it a chance. To my surprise I was blown away by the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. To further my experience, we all had the table d'ote menu (think that is how you spell it) which gave us 5 courses for 35 dollars. The food presented to us was absolutely amazing. Not only did it have fantastic taste, the creativity of the dishes were well up to par with any top restaurants I love and enjoy but for much more money.

Has management changed

I remember when Tyrone T opened around Christmas time, and there was man who worked the dinningroom, he was great showed us around the restaurant and how the new menu was designed and how to order he even helped my husband and I order the right wine. We had been in a few more times and it was excellent, I went in recently and brought a freind from out of town and it was terrible, food was great, but the new manager or owner has no concept of what a restaurant is or how it should be run. Our drink order took to long to arrive, no one cared, our food order was lost, no one cared. I wonder where the other guy went he would have cared, and for my husband and I that is all it takes.

We went to Tyrone's last weekend. Got there a little early for dinner and were sat down with no wait. Proceeded to order and try their great selection of martinis. Our food was really tasty. I had the T's Ribs and Lobster Mac and loved both of them. We stayed afterward for the nightlife and loved the DJ. Our server was friendly, and we had an overall great time.

High hopes dashed

We are new to the KW area and we are sampling restaurants around the area. We stopped in at Tyrone t thinking it would be a great venue seeing as the aesthetic style of the place is rather pleasing. It became very obvious that more effort is put in to the aesthetics than the actual quality of the food. I ordered a Gin & Tonic and couldn't finish the Tonic I was served. The appetizers we had were Chips and Dips and the Croustade. The dips were ok at best and the serving of chips was over-sized. Further to that, they were out of wanton chips. The croustade was good, but the pastry was extremely greasy. For the dinner menu, we ordered the Haddock special and the Chicken Supreme with a bottle of Pinot Grigio to compliment the meal. Our server returned to us to inform us that they opened their last bottle of Pinot Grigio at lunch. They offered to sell us this opened bottled at slightly more than half the price of a closed bottle of wine. The Haddock special was a combination of flavours that did not compliment each other and left me thinking that the chef was trying finish off ingredients rather than putting together a nice plate. Deep fried haddock on spaghetti noodles drenched in a spicy pesto cream sauce? The dry chicken was served on a bed of rice and was lost in an oil slick. The dinner did not make the grade for us. We were offered dessert, although we did not bother ordering a dessert we were informed they were out of two or three offerings on their menu. The dinnerware was awkward. The over-sized bowls made it difficult to place the fork and knife anywhere on the bowl(plate?). Anyway, you get the picture. We are not going back to this restaurant.
