We were there last night January 27th. Our server was Greg. He was so attentive and as I said to my family a really nice guy. Dinner was delicious, Greg apologized for not having the regular birthday desert but let me say again the cheesecake was Devine! Thank everyone for making my dinner as wonderful as it was!
Just went and ate at the keg with a group of 8 people. Steaks, salads, bread and all other food was great. Manager (dressed up guys with blazers) were absolutely terrible, as a group we probably spent close to $1000 dollars and manager asked if we could be seated to another place because we were finishing our drinks that we payed for. Absolutely terrible customer service and I will be going to the south end keg if I ever go back....garbage service for people whole probably tipped a total of $150
We were seated fast and in a very friendly manner upstairs in a warm booth. We started with crab cakes which were bursting with fresh crab and fried to perfection. We also ordered a shrimp cocktail that had huge plump and super fresh shrimp. Fresh bread was served warm and with lots of butter. Water was filled in perfect order and our beer and cesars were nice and cold. All 3 steaks were cooked to perfection -- medium rare -- and the mashed potatoes were super creamy. There was no waste with the steaks -- no grizzle or fatty chunks like at some other restaurants. Excellent. Oh -- and the grilled veggies were also perfect. The meal was piping hot and served by a super friendly hostess.
The service was very good and wow the waitresses were beautiful! The atmosphere can impress any date! My uncle, aunt, their baby son and I went upstairs. As I walked to my seat I saw a busy kitchen with lots of waiters and waitresses. The bread at the begining was warm and soft with a chewy crust. Then they brought a plate of finger foods for my baby cousin. I was impressed and that was sweet of them! It consisted of crackers, strawberries, carrot and celery sticks with dip. He ended up gobbling it all up! The whole experience was great until the entrees came. I was a bit disappointed by the food. We ordered a lobster starter and the featured steaks. (with a green apple martini and a virgin pina colada which was pretty good) The steaks were overcooked and roughh! :( For the price we were paying, I was expecting quality steaks cooked to perfection........ the starter was a little bit too salty for my taste too. I've tasted steaks at different restaurants that were better and even less expensive. The food was edible, but I was expecting it to be better.
By far, our favorite "go to" place when wanting a good consistant steak. We've just never been dissappointed at this location or the other one on Wellington.
Two nights ago my friends and I met up at the keg. Although parking was not what I expected it was paid for by the keg even though they did not own the lot. I paid for parking( at the machine) and they took 6 dollars off my bill. The service was great. The hostess was friendly and the server was over within seconds. I saw they had tuna fish tacos and figured i had to try them out. And boy, were the tacos ever good. the tuna was grilled perfectly and rolled in sesame seeds. In side the mini tacos was some sort of mushrooms with lettuces and topped with a delicious cusabi sauce. My sirloin was incredible perfectly seasoned and cooked. The lobster tail looked so good that it almost hurt me to eat it. Until I did and it taste better then it looked. The asparagus was very fresh and came with no butter as i requested. Finally came dessert and I ordered another surprise a S'more dessert. The plate presentation was very visually appealing the taste was even better. This was the best experience I have ever had at a restaurant and i will go back very soon.
I'm honestly not a great fan of this location. The whole parking issue gave us a headache to begin with. We waited 5 minutes to even be greeted at the door which left a poor taste in my mouth. Our server was good, I have no complaints about that, but my side was over cooked and under seasoned. The steak was good as per usual. I think the other location is far better in terms of atmosphere. This one caters to a young, hip crowd, which is nice, but if your looking for a more cozy and romantic setting, the Wellington location provides both.
The food at the Keg is consistent. Its not bad, but they do steak nicely as they should. The menu is pretty straightforward and nice, it doesn't feel confused. Really it is the atmosphere I can't stand. The last time I went was with my wife and we literally found it impossible to carry out a conversation. I simply don't like to sit and yell across the table. We could barely even see each other with the low lighting. The staff were nice, we didn't wait to long, but I didn't feel like it was worth the money.
I had 30+ people go to The Keg for my wedding dinner. It has always been my husband and I's favourite place to eat out and have had many dates here. The service was excellent. Parking is a bit of a pain to explain to my small town family, but it was no problem. The food was great. Plus we got a GIANT slice of cake with CONGRATS written in chocolate. I mean, come on. The Keg is great.
Great Food! Even better service! This is the place to go while downtown to experience a high quality meal, and to really enjoy yourself. The decor was second to none, being right on the train tracks made for a great experience, after the first train went by i was hoping for a second, how are they able to put such a highclass establishment beside a major set of train tracks and do so in such an effective way! I was extremely pleased, and now I recommend this restaurant to any business partners and clients visiting the city, not only because it is a safe franchise, but a location that makes it a truly fresh innovative franchise!
When I'm in the mood for steak I will come to the Keg. Their prices aren't too high and they are very consistent with their cooking. The degree of rareness in which you request your steak at will be pretty consistent upon frequent visits. Thats very important when preparing steak. Service is usually pretty good, the servers are friendly and informative. The atmosphere is pretty comfortable. The food of course is pretty good if you like steak. I can't attest to other dishes as I haven't tried anything else here.
The food, the service, the atmosphere, location EVERYTHING is great. They are good at booking reservations in advance, and the waitstaff for the most part know what they are talking about! They have a great drink menu and are always bringing out new drinks to try!
We all know that the Keg has a good reputation, and expectations are high whenever you walk in the door. My favorite meal is the steak oscar. Last time I was in, my steak came out very overcooked. HOWEVER, I mentioned this to my server, who took my steak back while I ate my sides... shortly after that a manager came out with an entire new meal, sides & all, which was cooked to perfection. No restaurant in the world is perfect, but every error is an opportunity to wow your guests with exceptional care, and I was definitely impressed! The Keg deserves its reputation as the premier steakhouse in London,
We went there on April 17th. It was a birthday dinner for my boyfriend. The reservations were very easy to make, as soon as we walked in the door we were greeted and informed of the parking lot (I agree with the tacky pay for park, but whatdya gonna do??) Our waitress was the BEST! (Nicole M). I have actually contacted The Keg headoffice about this waitress. She made the night perfect! - her knowledge of the drink menu, the food, the subsitutions EVERYTHING was amazing! - she made some great suggestions and we followed them and were absolutly WOW'ed by the whole experiance. Our bill came to a hair above $115.00 but it was all very much worth it - the service was very very fast, the food was amazing and the whole evening was just perfect - she even brought out a HUGE piece of cake with a candle in it for my boyfriend (I had only told them when making the reservation that it was for a birthday - they did the rest on their own) My birthday is at the end of May and I really hope to go back there again - this location was awesome and other restaurants could take a lesson in food prep and service from this location!! thanks again Nicole M!!!!
The service at this Keg is a joke. Usually I know what Im getting myself into at a Keg but this one did not meet expectation. Took 4 hours to get through the meal. Food was pretty good but the service was very disappointing. Not going to the Keg at this location again.
My girlfriend enjoyed her steak, but my cajun chicken just tasted like butter. Hardly anything cajun about it. The rice was ok. I have to say the calamari was really good though, the spicy thai sauce was great. I wish they cooked my chicken in that instead of the whatever it was.
great service. im not sure why other people are complaining about not knowing about parking- there are three signs on your way in telling you that you must pay for parking, and then both the host and your server mention it to you, to avoid paying a ticket. maybe people should pay more attention? anyways, i think my experience was great. very busy, but the service was very attentive, and the staff seemed to be really enjoying themselves. our steaks were cooked PERFECTLY, and so juicy. our meals were well timed, impressive considering it was a very busy sat. night- the place was packed. i noticed the table beside us had a problem, the manager came and resolved it right away and they seemed to be very happy when they left. overall, a class act and a really great, simple place to get excellent food for worthwhile prices.
Terrible --- vegtable were cold, service was slow and rude and the mains were not worth their price. We ask for a bread bowl, the best part of the dinner and we were cramped into an awful booth smushed up against another party. Oh and to top it off paying for parking at a high end restaurant is REALLY tacky!
Service was great but that' s b/c we knew our server. Parking was not a good experience! You have to pay and display at this location but there are no signs to tell you this!!! Unfortuneately i found out the hard way when I came out to see that I had received a parking ticket for $68.90!!!! What a ridiculous ticket. If they charge you so much, they should be able to afford MORE SIGNS. The Keg will do nothing to help you because it is not their lot. I will not go back to this location for that reason alone. They should help make their customers more aware of the situation if their patrons are coming to spend money at their business.
Nachos were great. Pleasant environment. Would visit again sometime!
