I have been to many of BBQ Joints, sadly, we don't have enough in southern Ontario to enjoy great BBQ. Opted for takeout at my first try of this new place.
I have to say this place tops the list in Ontario. I was excited when I could get some burnt ends and the smokey flavour came right through. Pulled pork was tender and had great deal of flavour and was just nicely sauced, as well as the brisket.
If you ever want to try something different, I would suggest the collard greens. Not your typical southern style, but I have to admit quite original and very good. I found the red beans and rice a little be desired the rice was very soft and sticky, the baked beans were great.
Great way to enjoy the southern style of bbq in Waterloo. Will be back in the near future for a Po'boy.
Seriously the best BBQ I've ever had in Ontario. All the RibFests and cookouts I've been to don't compare to this place.
I had the chicken wings, with onion rings, fries and cornbread. My girlfriend had the pulled pork with onion rings, beans & rice and cornbread.
Everything was amazing. Friendly people, great service, good atmosphere, best BBQ anywhere.
It's going to be our monthly place to go, and we've never had one of those before.

I visited HOG TAILS for the first time this week. (Takeout) Having never been there before I asked the Lady behind the counter for some help. She could not have been more friendly and helpful. She told me it was her family that owned the place, how everything was smoked, bbq sauce, sides,etc She knew most people by name(good sign). I had the Brisket on a bun with sauteed onions. Very tender and moist with a nice smokey flavour. Onion rings were crispy and large and the cole slaw was amazing with a hint of heat.
I wiil definately be back to eat in with my whole family!!

Almost have worked my way through the whole menu. Have competed in amateur and pro bbq comps. Have judged at the Canadian Championships and this bbq is as good as anything I've eaten or cooked. I've had the brisket, the pulled pork (the sauce is special), the ribs and the chicken. This is REAL DEAL BBQ. We should count our lucky stars that we have real bbq in Waterloo. And I haven't even mentioned the sides - beans are powerfully addictive, coleslaw is great, hush puppies - good to see on a menu. Best of all is the cornbread - and I though I've made amazing cornbread.
