Amazing value for the money. Very polite staff. The food is everything I enjoy about a Chinese Buffet. The bathroom desperately needs repair and the restaurant in general could really use a remodel. But I'll keep running back there for the exceptional quality and value. I love this place.
Have not been here for years b/c we simply do not go out for dinner much...like we used to. Loved it years ago but is has severely gone downhill..not at all like it used to be. Dirty and sooo outdated. Dishes were gross, tables gross, cobwebby and dusty lights and food was ok but not great and not near as much selection as years ago. Was scared to go the bathroom..in fact didn't, kids did and said...sick! I made them shower when they got home. Never going back not even for their great prices.
Ok...for starters..I never write reviews..but seriously..I felt the NEED to let people know how HORRIBLE this restaurant is. My husband & I and our three young children decided to go out to dinner, and thought we would try this place..we walked in..it was hardly busy..it felt very empty..and outdated. An employee asked how many, and then said just a minute, went to the back, and then waved us over to a back area. As we walked throuhg the tables, all I could notice was the massive amount of tables that hadn't been cleared off yet from previous customers..and the FOOD all over the carpets..like, EVERYWHERE. There were scewer sticks with chicken still on tthem..on the floor, right in the doorway of the room we were taken into..I had to STEP over them. We get back to the area where we were taken, and she puts us at a table that has been sprouts covering the floor around our table. The table clothes were DISGUSTING..like, hadn't been washed for a week..food stains all over them. We look around, and EVERY table around us hadn't been cleared off...(the area we were in was empty except two other tables..) and the rest were still dirty..not the kind of atmostphere I consider to be appropriate to eat in. Behind us..was a wall..lined with about 6 BROKEN chairs, stacked beside each other..(as if it was thier storage corner.) The drinks were like KID sized..and you only get ONE refill..which was ridiculous. The food was dried out, old, and half of the buffet needed to be refilled. The desserts looked like they had been sitting forever and I didn't even try them. There was an older lady that came out of the kitchen, shuffling in her slippers in and out, checking the buffet, she looked dirty and grumpy. She was also emptying food from a bowl to the buffet bins, then transferring other food into the SAME bowl and putting it back in a different buffet bin. Talk about cross contamination. My husband ate, I had a chicken ball and some salad..and then I couldn't eat anymore due to the SICK feeling I had in my stomach from the disgusting service. I then had to take my daughter to the washroom..OH MY GOODNESS..the bathrooms smelled HORRIBLE..EVERY stall (toilet) hadn't been flushed..the toilets were nasty..the sinks were disgusting..and the garbage was overflowed and paper towel was everywhere..and to top it all off one of the sinks were on full blast, with a PILE of COMET in the sink..and the COMET container was sitting in the middle of the floor for any small child to get ahold of. So, I sat there while my husband TRIED to eat SOMETHING..I felt uncomfotable the WHOLE time I was sitting there, that's how dirty it was. My husband finally decided to ask for a manager. The manager came out and said "Yes?" My husband then expressed our concerns about the cleanliness & quality of the food..and she simply said " Well we are busy and we can't clean up..those tables aren't your tables so it doesn't matter" (referring to the uncleared tables surrounding us) We then waited for anything like an appology or attempt to keep our business from her..and she then walked away without saying a thing. WOW. We then got up and left...told the person that was at the front desk that it was the worst place we have ever been to, and a few other customers heard. Honestly..WORST RESTAURANT EVER...I felt sick after we left..I felt like I needed to shower..the buffet isn't even WORTH $7.99 so PLEASE don't waste your time, and PLEASE don't give these people business! They don't care about YOU, they don't care about their quality of food, OR atmosphere..it's absolutley DISGUSTING. Never again. I don't even know how they stay in business...and really..where are the health inspectors???? Because they HAVE to be violating TONS of health precautions. EW.
My family and I went to West Garden for the Mothers Day lunch buffet. We were greeted and seated right away. We were offered drinks as soon as we sat down and then we were off to the buffet. The buffet consisted of everything from chinese dishes, and seafood to french fries, and onion rings, plus vegetables, fruits, and a dessert buffet and much more. The restaurant was very clean and presentable. I have no complaints, I will definately eat there again.
$8 buffet vs $19 buffet. Now I know the difference. We went for dinner Sunday and my wife said she'd like to try West Garden since she hadn't gone there since she was a kid. It has gone downhill. Although the buffet looked large, some of the dishes were never replaced. There was no rice and the noodles were similar to the way another review described. Basically dried out noodle with a few onions thrown in. I tried some sort of chicken and I was also lucky enough to find the last piece of beef in the black pepper beef. Everything tasted the same. The only thing that was good was the chicken wings. I don't normally like Chinese chicken wings, but they were just being put out and I grabbed one out of desparation get something fresh. I didn't try the roast beef or ham, but it was just a big slab of meat that you carve yourself. I tend to avoid areas wehre the general public is allowed to wield a carving knife to hack off their own share. If you don't mind peeling your own shrimp, they did have a big bowl of them at the salad bar, but I would question how old they were, given the fact they looked untouched and how old everything else at the buffet was. Dessert were the standard ice cream and commercial pastries. The pie I had wasn't bad, but everything else looked dry. To top it off, they only give you one free refill of your little glass of pop. In this day and age where everyone give free refills why annoy your customers over something that only costs a couple of cents per glass? Having asid that, the only reason I know about the refill policy is I heard the waitress tell someone else. She never did ask us if we wanted refills. Overall I think they have gone downhill and are aiming for the lower end of the buffet market since the other Chinese buffet came along. To summarize... You would think that if $8 a person is all you could afford to take your family out, you could probably get by at West Garden... On the contrary, I would reccomend you wait twice as long and save enough money to go elsewhere.
