In a city where yoga studios abound, Vancouver Yogacara stands out for its sense of community. “We call it 'kula' – that’s the word in yoga for a community,” explains owner Camellia Rumball. “It’s a soulful community here. We’re a boutique yoga studio and people come to us for the personal attention and care we offer. We greet each student by name when they walk through our door, and relationships are built between the teachers and students. Some of our students didn’t know each other before the started at Vancouver Yogacara, and now they’re best friends.”
Located in the heart of the Fraserhood, Vancouver Yogacara offers small classes in Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa and Nidra yoga, as well as Pilates. “We teach yoga according to what yoga means,” says Camellia. “That’s the union of body, mind, heart and spirit. We don’t care what you wear, what kind of mood you’re in, how old you are, how flexible you are – or aren’t. The studio’s very welcoming.”
