For three generations, the Maroke family has represented East Indian cuisine in the finest traditional way and is proud to share its journey with you at Handi Cuisine of India, conveniently located on Dunbar Street.
“Eating at Handi is a unique experience,” says owner and operator Amar Maroke. “Not only have we brought together the best chefs from the top hotels and restaurants of India, we also bring to the table cuisine from the northwestern frontiers of India – an area that has been ignored for a long time.”
Named after a traditional clay pot that is used in preparing gourmet Indian cuisine, Handi’s menu also boasts South Indian flavours to satisfy all tastes. The menu is extensive with an array of chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian signature dishes, including prawns goa curry, lamb rogan josh, eggplant bhartha; appetizers such as pakoras, samosas and aloo chat; and a variety of delicious desserts.
The warm and cosy space on Dunbar is decorated in earthy and golden tones with a number of paintings done directly on the walls, while the atmospheric background music allows for easy conversation.
