I had the pleasure of visiting Calgary on business in September and looked forward to a steak dinner following my meeting. I have been to Calgary several times and the city as a great selection of steakhouses. I was staying at the Marriott and Saltlik is across the street, the restaurant and came recommended by the concierge. I was deeply disappointed. Saltlik is not a steakhouse – it is a restaurant that serves ordinary steaks. To make the experience worse, the service was extremely poor. It ranged from being rushed at times to inattentive. After waiting for 20 minutes to get service when I sat down the waitress arrived and asked what I wanted to order – without having a chance to order a cocktail. After ordering my drink she disappeared for another 15 minutes. After eventually ordering dinner, my entire meal arrived in a span of 30 minutes (salad entrée and steak dinner), barely finishing my salad as the steak dinner arrived. My steak was satisfactory, but not different from what I could have had at most other non-steakhouse restaurants. Overall the experience was disappointing and I will never go back. There are several great steakhouses in Calgary and Saltik is not one of them.
Visited for a friend's birthday dinner, and WOW I was impressed. Great menu selection. Love the comfy surroundings. And the bathrooms downstairs? You have to check them out! Great place to go with a group or for a private dinner.
Friendly greeting at the front and the ambience is lively. Decor modern. Waitress was friendly and gave a recommendation on an alternative brew which was good. Did notice a little bit of sediment in the bottom of the glass - were they having problems with their plumbing? Ribeye steak was very good - juicy with falvor. The plate was piled high with fries. If I have ordered something else this would probably cut down on the excess of fries. Very reasonably priced with one pint cost under $40. If you're in the town centre well worth visiting.

The molten chocolate cake at Saltlik is a classic combination of moist cake and gooey chocolate interior. Served with berry compote, indulging in this rich dessert is the perfect end to a steak dinner.
