Take your taste buds on a tour of savoury breakfast pastries, fresh-shucked oysters, and the always-popular meaty selections at the carvery station. For dessert, kids will love the adorable marshmallow peeps and build-your-own sundaes while grown ups can tuck into vanilla mille-feuille, carrot cake, and other sophisticated sweets.
Want to host your own holiday meal at home but don’t fancy doing the cooking? Railtown Catering has made things easy for reluctant chefs this year with its gourmet Easter To-Go packages. Fool your friends and family with chef-made entrées (choose from honey glazed ham or lemon and rosemary lamb leg), seasonal side dishes like scalloped potatoes, roasted root veggies and braised red cabbage, and a classic rhubarb crumble for dessert. Pre-made Easter meals are created by award-winning chefs Dan Olson and Tyler Day and are available ready-to-eat (hot) or ready-to-bake (cold).
Springtime treats abound at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver during Easter Afternoon Tea at the Top. Throw on your finest Easter bonnet and head on up to the 15th floor of this iconic downtown landmark to indulge in a traditional English tea service, which runs from 12:30 to 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 27. Elegant tiered towers will be adorned with dainty finger sandwiches, buttery scones and pastel-coloured Easter sweets from the in-house pastry shop. Guests will also receive handmade chocolate eggs that might contain a special prize.
Take your Easter egg hunt to new heights this year at the top of Grouse Mountain. Little ones will love the gondola ride as you ascend top the top mountain, and there’s plenty of special activities to enjoy once you arrive at the peak. The resort’s all-you-can-eat Easter Sunday brunch features an assortment of sweet and savoury options that’ll please visitors young and old; highlights include smoked and candied salmon, lamb, eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles and much more. Rumour has it the Easter Bunny himself will even make a special appearance to lead the scenic mountaintop Easter egg hunt.
For those who appreciate the finer things in life, the chic high tea at Urban Tea Merchant is a must-try. Come Easter time, the civilized tradition of afternoon tea gets a seasonal spin with some special springtime offerings. From March 25 to 28, the upscale Alberni Street tea salon will host a classic three-tiered Easter Tea service as well as a hearty Easter Brunch Tea featuring scrambled eggs with caviar and other savoury breakfast items. Kids can even attend their own whimsical Mad Hatter’s Tea Party featuring petite platters topped with tiny sandwiches and fresh scones served with caffeine-free teas.
Executive chef Nathan Brown is cooking up some seriously decadent delights for diners at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. ORU’s refined Easter brunch menu includes artisanal salads, charcuterie and cheeses, and an “ultimate egg hunt” that invites diners to build-their-own egg dishes from a selection of local ingredients – think king crab chawanmushi (a Japanese style egg custard dish) and foie gras black truffle Benedict. The impressive buffet also features a carving station with whole-roasted porchetta, fruit parfaits, and an array of Easter themed desserts such as hot cross buns, sugar bunnies and a contemporary take on the classic cream egg
A favourite spot for tourists and locals alike, Dockside Restaurant on Granville Island is once again hosting its annual Marketplace Easter Brunch Buffet on Sunday, March 27. Guests start with a selection of warm baked breads, fresh salads, international cheeses and house-cured charcuterie before moving on to cooked-to-order egg dishes, grilled salmon, slow-roasted prime rib, or brown sugar and Dijon-crusted ham. You’ll end on a sweet note with cheesecakes, tarts and ready-to-dip cookies, fruit and marshmallows at the Swiss milk chocolate fountain. Be sure to reserve your table in advance; 10:00 am or 1:00 pm seatings are available.
Visit Vancouver’s Shangri-La Hotel on Easter Sunday to sample a special holiday brunch at Market by Jean-Georges prepared by executive chef Ken Nakano. The three-course prix-fixe menu begins with a welcome basket of hot cross buns followed by a diverse range of sweet and savoury dishes inspired by Jean-Georges’ greatest hits. Appetizer choices include avocado toast, roasted beet salad, oysters and steelhead sashimi. For the main course, diners can opt for brioche French toast, eggs Benedict topped with beef short rib or smoked salmon, or a vegetarian quiche. Rhubarb cheesecake, assorted truffles and chocolate fondue round out the exceptional menu.
