Established more than 40 years ago, Smuggler’s Inn is a classic steakhouse serving traditional cuts of beef like prime rib and filet mignon, with tried and true appetizers such as garlic escargot and stuffed mushrooms. Located just south of the Rundle CTrain station, Hot Million offers an inexpensive lunch buffet stocked with a variety of Indian classics like butter chicken, pakoras and tikka masala as well as a salad bar featuring plenty of vegetables, fruit and cold pastas, with raita (a creamy side dish made with yogurt, cucumber and spices) to dress it all.
Avellino’s is one of a handful of franchises in the core offering salad bar service for downtown workers craving a quick, healthy lunch. Rather than pricing by weight, the salads are priced by the number of toppings chosen. You can visit the eatery’s website to “pre-build” your salad by choosing toppings, then take your order to one of its two locations in Bantrel Tower and Fifth Avenue Place.
Located on the main grocery level of Sunterra Market Keynote on the west end of Beltline, the salad bar features more than 30 toppings for a seemingly infinite number of combinations. Take your custom-made salad back to the office, or snag a table in the bright and busy seating area on the main floor or at the casual seating area up on the third level adjacent to MARKETbar.
Housed in a former Pizza Hut, this vegetarian Indian restaurant boasts an inexpensive all-day buffet featuring a mix of classic Indian dishes as well as pizza and a salad bar. You can load up on lettuce and cucumber to help temper the heat of some of the spicy dishes, or try one of the prepared salads for a little more Indian flair.
