Best Restaurants for Barbecue in Toronto

With only a few weeks left in August, it’s important to keep the feeling of summertime going. And nothing does it like fingers-dripping-with-sauce barbecue. Here are my top BBQ picks. Get ready to drool.

Lou Dawgs Southern Sandwiches

1
76 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON M5B 1G6

Visiting this Southern Barbecue joint is like heading to the south. Just a few steps below ground level, warm wood walls and small space might be what you see, but you’ll notice that deep, distinct BBQ smoke aroma above all else. Ahhhh.

Starter & Main

2
913 Queen St E, Main, Toronto, ON M4M 1J4

Southern BBQ sandwiches are the main atrraction here. While the regular roster is mightily impressive (Smoked Butter Chicken!), come for the Chicken and Waffle sandwich, available exclusively on weekends. Best I ever had.

Black Camel

3
4 Crescent Rd, Toronto, ON M4W 1S9

Around since 2004, this modern sandwich shop satisfies your BBQ hankering with slow roasted beef brisket, pulled pork shoulder and pulled roasted chicken sarnies. All at a very reasonable $7.50 each, to boot. And being located right across from Rosedale subway station means you can grab it and go - never having to give in to a soggy, pre-made cafeteria sandwich again.

Sitting on the dock of the bay, or a patio downtown, or in the cool comfort of an air conditioned restaurant, nothing says summertime like fish and chips. Here are the city’s top 5 spots:
We are so fortunate in Toronto that we don’t have to wait for TIFF to arrive to get a sneak peek of Hollywood elite, supermodels and their ilk. If you want to star-gaze and get up close to celebs, head to these top 5 eateries in the city for VIPs and superstars.
One of the best ways to spend a summer evening is to catch a show. Whether you’re going out to a big theatre production such as Newsies or Kinky Boots, or you’re heading off to hear a performance by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company or Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra & Chamber Choir, you’re going to want to eat beforehand.
