It can be scary to take on the unknown, but it could also be a very rewarding and rich learning experience. Such was the case with Michael Charad, owner of Studio Paws, a dog grooming, training and daycare business. Michael had worked in the textile industry since the ’90s before professionally working with dogs. In 2014, he was no longer finding textiles to be something he enjoyed, so he quit that path and followed his passion. “Without a job, I started thinking about what I really wanted to do, which led me to take a course in dog training. Then, I started working in a dog daycare, which I loved. But, the owner was closing shop, so I made her an offer, which was accepted, and I found myself being an entrepreneur.”

Michael was destined to work with dogs because the connection he has with them is effortless. “I have always had a great passion for dogs, and oddly, it has always been easy for me to deal with them; they come to me naturally,” he says. After acquiring the company, Michael took a close look at everything and really revamped the business. “I closed for a month because I wanted to add services, update the brand identity and the name, and change everything up. We reopened as Studio Paws in July 2014: a brand new company.”
