Square Mobile has established itself in a culture where the smartphone is ubiquitous. “Everyone from kids to their grandparents have a smart phone now. In that sense almost anyone can be a part of your clientele,” says manager Sarkis Thabet. The business is situated along a busy strip in Les Cours Montreal. You can also stop in for a repair to your smartphone to go along with that new case you were eyeing as you walked by. “We mostly sell casings for phones here, as well as minor unit accessories. I would say our business is about 50/50 in terms of the accessories we sell and our professional services. We do on-the-spot repairs here,” says Sarkis.
In the mobile phone business, it’s key to have a good location. With people always on the move, you need a place where a lot of foot traffic can stop, look around, and maybe choose a new jacket for their phone before running to grab lunch. "We began as a phone accessory business. Recently it evolved into a repair shop and unlocking business, so it’s changed dramatically. Since then, we have only been pushing that part of our business and it’s been going great so far,” says Sarkis.
