Catherine Berruyer and Thi Vuare styled the hair of their first customers as co-owners of Salon Pause when it opened in May 2011. Catherine and Thi had known each other years earlier when they both worked as hairdressers at another salon. When Catherine opened Salon Pause, she got in touch with Thi to come join her in the project.
"I started hairdressing when I was 16. I've always been attracted to this work," recalls Catherine, who has several siblings and was able to practise her craft at a very young age. Originally from France, she moved to Montreal in 1986, while Thi came to the city from Vietnam in 2014.
