"Patience, perseverance and passion" — these three "P's" have contributed to Graziella Battista’s success in the restaurant business — plus a solid foundation, careful thought and, of course, a pinch of luck!
Graziella, co-owner of the eponymous restaurant with Pierre Jullien and Alexandre Gagnon, had to be patient when she decided to sell Il Sole, a restaurant she owned on Saint Laurent Boulevard, and look for a new location. At first a good space was hard to find, she says, but then she stumbled onto 116 McGill Street: an old building with grey stone walls typical of Old Montreal with 22-foot ceilings and large windows. Finding it was an unparalleled stroke of luck.
Renovating the location while keeping its historical integrity, something that Graziella insisted upon, was another challenge. But the end result was a total success. Restaurant Graziella's ample, bright rooms that welcome guests are just as beautiful as the meeting rooms in the basement.

Best Italian restaurant in Montreal. The menu selection is incredible and the food is even better. The service was very pleasant and paced perfectly. Great selection of wines, a bit expensive but well worth investing in a good bottle that can do honour to the food. A must try!
What a disappointment!! The three of us, all in the Food Service business, wanted something special and we had heard great reviews about this chef....but we were headed for a disaster!!! We had told the watiress, from Spain, right from the first second that the three of us were in the industry and we asked her after the appetizers if she had told the chef of our comments....and yes, supposedly she had. Obviously, the chef had a very off night and we paid the bill in full (nothing was comped to our surprise!) and left, unhappy, hungry and much, much poorer!! This place is a rip-off and a waste of time! We started with 3 different apps and we were really disappointed with all three. Mine, 2 salty over-cooked scallops on a bed of mushrooms that were actually delicious...but at $12 who wants that? The one chef with us orderd the Duck App with Pineapple and the plate looked amazing....very thinly sliced duck breast pieces...but the pineapple sauce was so overpowering that you tasted nothing of the duck.. Too bad, but we did tell that waitress to inform the chef so that she would know. We were so disappointed that I ordered the Guini sutffed Ravioli to tide us over before the mains. At least that was delicious, really outstanding. But the Mains were horrible. The two of them ordered the house specialty, Ossobucco and it was stringy, overcooked and on a bed of literally hard and crunchy rizzotto that was overcooked. Mine, 3 little slices of veal with some stringy vegetables...what a disappointment. Overpriced, and horrendous!

These are the words of chef and owner Graziella Battista; they give you a good idea of the warm atmosphere that surrounds you when seated at this establishment on McGill Street. We went there at dinnertime to sample the antipasti, gnocchi, risotto, organic duck ravioli, saddle of rabbit and liver mousse, guinea fowl breast and a crostata alla ricotta for dessert.
