Our city’s frenetic “métro, boulot, dodo” lifestyle leaves little room for a daily homemade meal made with fresh and healthy ingredients. Between picking up the kids from school and helping them with their homework, the bath time and bedtime, today’s parents have almost no time to prepare tonight’s dinner, much less tomorrow’s lunch. Enter entrepreneurs like Jean-Marc Migeotte, whose Rosemont store Les petits plats de Sophie, offers much-needed relief with its selection of ready-to-eat takeout foods.
“After years of contemplation, I decided in 2003 to go for the whole enchilada and start my own business,” recalls Jean-Marc. “I wanted to offer busy Montrealers simple, healthy, homemade cooking in a readymade, takeout format. So you could say that Les petits plats de Sophie specializes in quality, affordable prêt-à-manger.”
Jean-Marc makes a point of offering meals inspired by a great variety of international traditions, along with vegetarian options. “It’s like a trip around the world: you’ve got your French, your Asian, your couscous, and of course your comfort food à la québécoise; our displays are a bit like the United Nations.”
