It was on December 8th, 1998, six years after he began to work at Marseille Bicycles et Sports, that Kens Dalaroy acquired the company. Then an undergraduate studying physical education, Kens realized that jobs in the field were becoming increasingly rare. He was a big fan of sports and cycling in particular, so he left teaching to become an entrepreneur.
The Marseille Bicycles et Sports team is made up of about eight employees. Kens describes them as one big family of enthusiasts who are always having a good time. A typical day during peak season begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m. During the summer, Kens is there seven days a week to serve the steady stream of customers who come in to Marseille Bicycles et Sports. Things can get so busy that it's not unusual for Kens and his employees to remain at the shop after closing to catch up on bike repairs. Kens can spend fifteen hours a day working at the shop, but it doesn't bother him — the business is his passion.
