There is little doubt that Westphalie Sonia Charles is the perfect young professional: well organized, connected, resourceful and motivated are just a few ways to aptly describe her. And while these attributes would make Westphalie a great candidate for any employer, the young woman prefers being in charge of her own career with Direction West. “My father is an entrepreneur, just like my grandfather and my uncle. Entrepreneurship runs in the family, and I grew up with these role models who influenced me immensely. To create my work from nothing, to face my own challenges and to try new things, this is what has always attracted me,” she says.
Westphalie is a professional in administration and organization. “I was in the construction industry, where I worked in administration, customer service and estimating," she explains. "I also spent a long time working in the event planning business...I am passionate about anything artistic. I mostly worked with organizing, coordinating, as well as looking for partners, funding and volunteers. I also worked onthe production of shows, events and web series as well as being a consultant-coach foran international organization working in entrepreneurship." Clearly, Westphalie had a wealth of experience that helped fuel her drive to start her own business, Direction West, in 2014.
