I eat here often. Excellent food. I have never been disappointed. The service is friendly and the prices are excellent. The manager often comes by to make sure that we are happy. Easy access from the 401.

Too sweet

I had to write off this restaurant since I was not impressed with what they had. Ordered the chicken on sticks and the Tamarind Soup with Shrimp. Both were overly sweet. I mean you'll end up being a diabetic if you eat here. I wonder if the Chef / cook here realizes how sweet the food is. I normaly have that tamarind soup at other place so to me it was so weird to have it that sweet. In any case....the only thing that stuck with eating there was that it was so sweet. The chicken on a stick also was not really appeetizing. A bit dry and sauce was too sweet

I visit Desiam often. I have tried many other Thai restaurants and they always cheap out on portion size Not Desiam. A beef dish has actual beef. I know, shocking. Most Thai restaurants fill your dish with cheap veggies, but Desiam gives you what ou paid for. A delicious meal for a great price. Just writing this review makes me hungry. I highly recommend the Mango salad and the Spicy Beef on steamed rice. The owners are so friendly and they will remember you the next time you visit.

Well the wife and I decided to go the easy route and order something fancy for Christmas eve, but we didn't want to get "the everyday" like we always do. So, we tried this place, DeSiam, and I can honestly say I was very pleased with it! We had golden tofu, which is like fried tofu cubes, and you can dip it in this really fresh and light sweet and hot sauce, and calimari rings, which were crisp and nice. I'm on this really big kick of 'light' food - no diets for me, I just mean that I like food that won't weigh you down like a 20 lbs bag of potatoes! - and I can say this felt really light, and it wasn't greasy either, considering it was all fried. The wife got a dish of thinly sliced ginger beef, that had a nice crispy outside and was very tender. She had noodles and everything. I felt kinda jealous to be honest. Again, it was light, and didn't give the typical "fried food" burps or heartburn afterward! Big plus in my books! One of the only problems was that we got a take-out order and the calimari rings were kinda soft, not crispy, but really, that's because they were in the backseat of my car for the twenty-odd minute drive home. Also, they vented the styrofoam containers, so any condensation that built up would hopefully escape, instead of soak the food! Smart thinking, I thought!

I was disappointed the two times I've been at DeSiam. I would have not gone the second time, but some friends said the service has improved since my last visit, not by much. I will not recommend DeSiam to anyone who truly enjoy Thai cuisine. For Thai lovers, the food at DeSiam is too bland.

We ate here when it first opened, and for Whitby, it was pretty good. It is nowhere near as authentic as the Thai places downtown Toronto, but for a local place, it was good. Over time though, the food became less authentic and eventually we stopped going. Usually we order red, yellow or green curries, but they seemed bland. If you've never had Thai food or don't mind the "Canadianized" version and want to stay local, this place is ok.

We arrived for lunch and we were served immediately. Our orders were promtly taken and served. The food was delicious and flavourful. Large portions which are hard to eat during the lunch hour, but we brought the rest to go. Can't wait to go back again...

Keeps up to the best Thai you get in Toronto. Never had a bad dish. Prices are reasonable. Ask for spicy if you like it hot.

I was hoping this restaurant would offer some tasty Thai food, but found myself disappointed with each bland, dulled down dish. The restaurant itself wasn't bad, and the service was great, but I would not recommend this place if its flavor you're after. If you decide to give it a try, skip the Tom Yum, it was the biggest disappointment for me, and if you like your Thai food spicy, you should probably let them know.

Based on food alone this is a great place to go. The atmosphere is somewhat cafeteria-like with little privacy or style, but it didn't make much difference to us - the food was great and the wait-staff pleasant and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Very good food. I was particularly happy with the vegetable spring rolls. The service was fine. A little short and not overly warm - - but nice enough. I highly recommend visiting DeSiam.

just cant get enough of this restaurant, love the food more than any other thai i have had, and the service is great. i am somewhat of a regular there and the crispy chicken is awesome. i would recommend this place to anyone!

If you have a chance to visit Thailand, you'll probably realize that this place is the best. Pad Thai is as good as the one I had in Thailand - it doesn't taste like "Chow-Mein" (too much soy sauce) or spaghetti (too much ketchup); but the curries are not as good, not spicy enough. I asked the manager why? He said, "we tone a few dishes down just a little. Please let us know if you like the Thai version." He continues, "Same in Thailand, big hotels serve tourist version of Thai food but restaurants on the streets serve real Thai food." And that is true.

I just don't get why this place is always getting such great reviews. It is just average. The food is ok, but nothing spectacular. I'd definitely pass on the pad thai again.

The food was very very good, as always! We had visited on an incredibly busy night, but were still very impressed. The incredible food, and the friendly waitress made the wait well worth it. The young server named Christin managed to give us exceptional service on top of many other tables she was handling. We will be back soon!

This has always been a favourite restaurant of...

This has always been a favourite restaurant of ours, so this past weekend we decided to introduce a group of our friends to it. Our friends fell in love with the food, and all said they will be visiting back. The service was amazing. The young lady managed the whole section by her self, and still managed to give our large party exceptional service. We were very impressed by her efficiency, delightfulness, and memory! The food was AMAZING, as always. Thankyou once again for making our visit enjoyable.
