Wind Grove may be the professional culmination of Mark Sutherland's passion for interior design, but it's also deeply personal.
Before his home décor boutique opened in 2013 amid the antique dealers at the western end of Queen Street West, Mark managed an upscale furniture store in the Design District along King Street East. However, his employer went out of business and, as he explains, "It gave me the push I needed to say, 'I don't want another job, I want a career.' I wanted to focus my time and energy on branching out and starting my own thing."
In fact, Mark's own thing was already under way as he had launched an outdoor furniture business in 2012. But he wanted more: "I realized my goal was to have my own storefront. I wanted it to be family-oriented, something that would grow and people could turn to for years and years."
