Like any chef with a passion for food and eating, Alanna Fleischer started out cooking for her family and friends. She also posted her scrumptious creations on an Instagram account she called The Edible Story.
Later, in 2013, the George Brown College culinary school graduate was working for catering companies and running her own catering business out of her home.
It was then that she wrote “personal chef” on her business card and everything changed; she soon found herself cooking for celebrities like rapper Kardinal Offishall and actor C.S. Lee. That was when things started getting way bigger than she could handle from her humble kitchen.
“I was working from an at home kitchen and it was a great kitchen, but there were so many restrictions in terms of what you could do with it,” Alanna recalls. “Plus, I was doing these big events for like 800 people, so I needed somewhere to cook out of.”
So, in November 2014, she opened The Edible Story – an industrial kitchen offering catering and cooking classes – with fellow chef and business partner Brian Cheng.
