Taking your clothes out for dry cleaning and laundering is a hassle, everyone knows this, but what if it didn’t have to be? For Talal Jandali, co-founder of Simply Laundry, his love of convenience and dislike of doing laundry turned into a business opportunity. It all started when Talal was visiting his cousin in Manhattan. On the way up to his apartment, the cousin picked up his laundry from the building’s concierge. Talal had never seen anything like that before. “My cousin looked at me like I had three heads,” Talal says with a laugh. “He couldn’t believe that we didn’t have a service like that in Toronto.”
When Talal returned home, he ran the idea by a friend of his. Together, they founded Simply Laundry, an on-demand, dry cleaning and laundry service. The hassle-free idea and sheer convenience was a hit with Torontonians. “Within three months of working on the idea, we had put the whole thing together,” Talal says. “We launched at the beginning of 2014 with 72 condo buildings in downtown Toronto, using their concierge service. Since then, our service has expanded from downtown Toronto, all the way up to North York and now covers residential houses and commercial buildings.”
