Sean Orr jokingly likens his boutique fitness studio to the classic TV sitcom Cheers. “When someone walks in the door, you say hello,” he says. “It doesn’t matter if it’s my client or someone else’s client.”
This is just one of the many perks of joining an independent gym like Sean Orr Works instead of one of the bigger chains. “Unfortunately, clubs like that treat people like a number,” says Sean. “It’s all about sales, sales, sales. I’m not about quantity. I’m about quality. And that’s what you’re going to get when you come into a small studio like this.”
Located on the third floor of the historic former Ford factory at the corner of Dupont and Christie streets, Sean Orr Works is a modern boutique fitness studio with vintage industrial flair, 12-foot ceilings and huge windows revealing a stunning view over Toronto. Here, Sean and his teamof two deliver spin classes and personal training sessions to a wide range of clients. “I might be helping a young athlete get ready for a college scholarship in a specific sport he’s playing,” he says. “Or I may be working with an elderly person on general fitness, keeping them mobile and helping them embrace their later years.”
