DO NOT SIT IN THE EXTRA ROOM OFF OF THE DINING ROOM! We were part of a party of six and got stuck in the extra room. Other tables in the room were full. We were screaming at each other!! Awful. My husbands entree order was never put in and he received a late meal which was inferior to others. Get it together Bistro! You used to be my fav restaurant.
As always the atmosphere and food were wonderful on our last visit but the pushy manager/server has rubbed us the wrong way one too many times. She would join our group conversation, argued with several at the table when we had a complaint and was generally contrary. It's too bad because we really miss the quality of the food.
I feel awful having read this latest review. I'd like to ask its author to please phone me at the restaurant so that I can look further into this complaint.

I've lived in Thunder Bay for 24 years now and something I've wanted to do is eat at Bistro One. Finally I took the plunge and invited my partner out for a special meal. I wasn't so sure how he would react to a low lighting, romantic, gourmet dinner but to my surprise... he LOVED it. Every mouth-full was enjoyed and appreciated. But enough about him... I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as well. Bistro One lived up to everything I had heard about it and more. There is no doubt I would go there again, in fact my partner wanted to back there the very next weekend

We eat here all the time.... the food here is excellent.. The Chefs really know what they are doing....and the wait staff is amazing... I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone... anyday.... Great Job Guys n Gals

This was my second visit to Bistro One and overall i quite enjoyed the experience. My boyfriend and I were the youngest patrons in the restaurant by a gap of nearly 20 years, and it was obvious that our waiter was very aware of it. It seemed he was intent on paying much more attention to the table of 6 middle-aged people to our right and the table of 4 older people across the aisle than to us. Although the service was adequate, I expected more. I will definetly be back, perhaps with a larger party next time.

We were very impressed with this place from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. Food was excellent, service professional and atmosphere was warm and inviting. Will definitely eat here again.
I was taken here for my birthday and was quite excited as it was my first time here. I was so disappointed. The shrimp was overcooked and tough. The portions were small. Not an enjoyable meal at all. The wine was good and the server was very friendly and capable. She saved the evening from being a disaster.

I eat alot of different fish but this was the best Salmon I ever had in my life.
The environment was awesome and the service was good. The waitress was very helpfull.
There was lots of interesting artwork in the resturant, and even even the soap in the bathroom was fancey and smelt good. It just goes to show the attention to detail there.
They present each dish like a work of art. I was very impressed and I phoned and complimented Jean (The Chef) the next day.
My boyfriend and I always visit for appitizers and dessert (the tempura shrimp, calmari and chocolate gateau are so yummy). The food is BY FAR the best in Thunder Bay. The wine is amazing, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect. Even though me boyfriend and I are students (and on a budget) we always try to go to Bistro One whenever we can. I have never had a bad experiance at this restaurant and I highly recommend it!!!
Fabulous food - never had a bad meal. The best restaurant in Thunder Bay. Everything is unique and the staff will go that extra mile to make your meal perfect.
Ive only heard the best things about the Duck there, topped with portabellos, sultanas, almonds and a gognac reduction.. but it wasnt all that great because not enough fat rendered from the breast so it made it rubbery, but i would go back because it is a great menu and i like to fine dine in this city and it is a fancy place.
What a relaxing place to eat and be pampered. The food is flavourful and interesting. Plenty of choices. Try the maple syrup scallops.
Staff are friendly and courteous while still being professionals.
