Egg Bread (Challah) - Regularly in Plain or Twisted Style
You can order Challah in many sizes, with or without raisens, with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or no seeds at all. Just give us a couple of days notice and we will prepare a challah for your special occasion. Wholewheat twist can be ordered.
Assorted Rolls
We have a wide selection of rolls in various sizes and doughs.
The selection pictured here includes talisman rolls and sesame kaisers in white or whole wheat, onion bun, regular kaiser, tea bun, crusty roll, knot, whole wheat roll, light and dark rye rolls, salt stick, half moon, nine-grain, twisted egg buns, sub buns. Custom sizes are available.
Many rolls are available in mini sizes on request.
Assorted Rye Bread
Rideau Bakery is famous for our rye bread. Our rye bread is sourdough bread that is made without yeast. We make light rye (with or without caraway seeds), dark rye, pumpernickel and round light rye. We also make onion rye but that does have some yeast in it. Many of our breads come in various sizes.
French, Italian, Euro & Stick
We produce a variety of tasty European breads.
Pictured here (clockwise) are round sesame Italian, European crusty, French stick, French bread and sesame Italian. We also make a regular white bread and square white bread.
Holiday Challah
Our customers are always excited by the re-appearance of our popular holiday challah. They are available with or without raisins.
Jumbo Rye
Our jumbo rye makes a very generous sandwich. The light and pumpernickel jumbos feature lots of caraway seeds on top. The marble jumbo is topped with sesame seeds.
Kolachi
A seasonal favorite of our European customers. Kolachi is a round braided egg bread that can be ordered with or without raisins, with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or no seeds at all. Just give us a couple of days notice and we will prepare a Kolachi for you.
Novelty Breads
Our talented bakers can produce a novelty bread that will certainly catch yours guests attention. Turtles, alligators, oh my!!
Paska
A beautiful round bread made with a sweet dough. It can be ordered with or without raisins.

A delicious dessert available in apple, chocolate, fresh fruit, lemon curd, peach, pear, pecan or strawberry.
Birthday or Special Occasion Cakes
Great choice for a birthday, anniversary, shower or any special occasion. Your choice of white or chocolate cake with white or chocolate icing and colourful trim. Inscription or additional decoration can be requested.

Black Forest
Layers of chocolate cake with cherries and non-dairy cream between the layers. The cake is surrounded by non-dairy cream and chocolate.
Black Magic
Layers of chocolate cake with chocolate ganache between the layers. The cake is covered with ganache and chocolate shavings
Black & White Cake
Layers of white and chocolate cake interleaved with layers of vanilla and chocolate mousse.
Boston Cream
Layers of white cake with Vienna cream between the layers with chocolate fondant poured on top.
Cake with Fruit Top
A great way to decorate a large cake. Fruit used may vary due to season, availability and budget. Imagine your company logo on a beautiful cake like this.
Carrot Top
Spiced carrot cake with cream cheese icing surrounding the outside. Decorated with icing carrots. Edging of chopped almonds is available. Also available with a non-dairy icing.
Cheesecake
A rich baked cheesecake available in the following flavours: Blueberry, Brownie Caramel, Cappuccino, Cherry, Chocolate, Mandarin Orange, Marble, Neopolitan and Strawberry. A delicious non-dairy version of this cake is available in tofu.
Chocolate Fudge
Layers of chocolate cake with chocolate fudge between the layers and surrounded by chocolate icing and sprinkles. Also available in a small round cake.
Chocolate Mousse
Layers of white cake with chocolate mousse between the layers and on the outside.
Chocolate Truffle
Layers of chocolate cake with rich chocolate ganache between the layers, topped with chocolate truffle.
Chocolate Velvet
Thin layers of chocolate cake with a velvety chocolate mousse inside and out.
Cinnamon Torte
Six layers of cinnamon cake wafers with cinnamon non-dairy cream between the layers. Topped with non-dairy cream, chopped walnuts, chocolate and cherries.
Crockenbush
Chocolate dipped bouchées filled with rum flavoured Vienna cream and stacked together to form a tee-pee style dessert.
Cup Cake Cake
A cupcake cake looks like a large single cake but is made up of individual cupcakes. No knife needed to serve this cake!
Doll Cake
A fanciful cake that is a real crowd pleaser.
Dutch Apple Cake
A centre of fresh apples and cinnamon surrounded by a sweet cinnamon dough. Almond topping is optional.
German Chocolate
A caramelized filling of coconut and pecans between layers of chocolate cake. Surrounded by chocolate fudge icing.
Hazelnut Torte
Layers of chocolate cake with ganache and hazelnuts between the layers and on top.
Image Cake
We can create a cake with your choice of image. Great for company logos or a special photo. The image can be drawn or scanned from a photo or JPEG file as an edible image.
Key Lime Mousse with Ladyfingers
White cake and one of the following flavours of mousse: Key lime, Lemon, Mango, Pear Caramel, Raspberry and Strawberry. Ladyfingers decorate the side of the cake.
Lemon Curd Flan
A delicious dessert available in apple, chocolate, fresh fruit, lemon curd, peach, pear, pecan or strawberry.
Magic Rum
Layers of chocolate cake with rum flavoured ganache between the layers and covered with dark chocolate ganache.
Mango Mousse
White cake and one of the following flavours of mousse: Key lime, Lemon, Mango, Pear Caramel, Raspberry and Strawberry.
Mocha Cream Cake
Layers of white cake with creamy mocha icing.
Mocha Victoria
Mocha Vienna cream between layers of white cake. Covered with mocha fondant icing and featuring a caramel design on top.
Mousse Cakes
White cake and one of the following flavours of mousse: Key lime, Lemon, Mango, Pear Caramel, Raspberry and Strawberry.
Opera Tourte
Layers of alternating chocolate cake and white meringue with non-dairy cream and ganache between the layers.
Pecan Flan
A delicious dessert available in apple, chocolate, fresh fruit, lemon curd, peach, pear, pecan or strawberry.
Raspberry Mousse
White cake and one of the following flavours of mousse: Key lime, Lemon, Mango, Pear Caramel, Raspberry and Strawberry.
Rideau Dream
A multi-layered delight. From the bottom up: a layer of chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, white cake, white chocolate mousse, chocolate cake, mocha mousse and then white cake. Covered with chocolate mousse and topped with chocolate.
Seasonal Fruitcake
A rich cake filled with dried fruit. Available in light or dark cake with either fruit pieces (Canadian style) or pureed fruit (Jamaican style).
St. Honoree
A large puff pastry shell filled with rum flavoured Vienna cream and chopped up fruit. Topped with non-dairy cream and chocolate dipped bouchées.
Strawberry Flan
A delicious dessert available in apple, chocolate, fresh fruit, lemon curd, peach, pear, pecan or strawberry.
Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberries and white non-dairy cream between layers of white cake. Topped with non-dairy cream and strawberry slices.
Strawberry Whip
Strawberries and Vienna cream between the layers of white cake. Covered with non-dairy cream and strawberries.
Tiramisu
A sweetened non-dairy cream cheese filling with coffee essence between the layers of lady fingers. Available in a dairy version.
Yule Log
A whimsical seasonal cake. Available in white or chocolate cake with white or chocolate icing.
Zuccotto
A dome shaped white cake filled with chocolate ganache and amoretto and mocha flavoured Vienna Cream.

Talk about history, the family owned and operated Rideau Bakery was founded over 80 years ago. Opened in 1930 by brothers David and Abie Kardish, the bakery and the family survived the Great Depression by working together to make dough. The secret to its delicious success is the Ukrainian recipes passed down by the family matriarch, Rivkah. Now operated by the third generation of the Kardish family, the bakery continues to do doughnuts such as the rainbow sprinkles and Boston cream to perfection.

The original owners started by baking their mother’s Ukrainian bread recipes – now, Rideau Bakery is run by its third generation of owners. A documentary has even been produced about the bakery by local filmmakers. The four types of croissants served are among the most affordable around town and include a cinnamon-infused croissant that brings with it a taste of deep-rooted family traditions.
