Sloan Shoes Orthotic Friendly Shoes

“We measure the feet of every single customer and if we don’t have the right shoe in stock, we’ll order it,” explains Steve Sloan of Sloan’s Shoes. “We don’t try to sell the customer something else that we have in.” It’s a far cry from what usually happens in most shoe stores, where you go in, take something off a rack, try it on, pay for it and then leave. “Often adults just pick up the same size because that’s what they’ve worn for years but your feet get longer and wider as you get older and you need new sizes.”

With such old-fashioned and dedicated customer service, it’s no surprise Sloan’s Shoes has thrived since it was opened in 1952 by Steve’s grandfather. It’s been in the very same location too; Steve remembers playing in the back as a child.

Today, Steve and wife Denise are serving the children of children of the store’s first customers. They stock shoes for medium and wider feet widths in a variety of styles, school uniform shoes and specialist footwear and socks for diabetic customers. “Diabetic clients sometimes don’t feel their feet because of poor circulation. We have a range of shoes and socks which we can fit them with according to their needs.”
