Ordered a pad thai and noodles. They were both excellent. Prices are very reasonable The service could be long during rush hours. Go to Kingston for work and found it is one of the best small local restaurant of the city.
Hands down the best place to eat vietnamese/cambodian/thai in all of Kingston. The other restaurants don't even come close!!!! The vermicelli is probably the best I have ever had and the curries are amazing. Thank you wok-in for feeding me for three great years.
This restaurant holds only maximum 11 persons plus the take out types and you serve yourself water but the food flavours are unbelievable! While Kingston enjoys several vietnamese and other asian eating spots this one is hands down the best food-wise. Seating and service are kinda neutral as a small low key restaurant. Go for the food or do take-out: then you will not be dissapointed.
I cannot believe that a place such as this exists here in Kingston instead of Toronto. I drive all the time to Toronto for the restaurants because I dont find the authentic taste in small towns. But I would have to say that this place changed my mind. Its a very small restaurant best for takeout, friendly people and food is awsome. Being Brown, I love spicy dishes and am usually disappointed at restaurants that like to write that the dish is spicy and usually they are not. But this place when they say spicy, trust me, its spicy. Anyways, just thought I give my two cents and tell you guys about my experience about this restaurant.
best best greatest tasting plates - i love #11- awesome service, awesome amazingly tasting plates. only 16 plates....but each 1 is super gooooo, i've been going here for almost 5 years now, every month. I LOVE IT!
We visited this restaurant two or three times in the last 6 months. Very good food, freshly prepared. We tried red curry and green curry dishes. Everything is always very good as long as you like spicy food! We recommend pick up orders since the place lacks atmosphere!
Very good. Lots of choice, and a great price. A funny little spot, with an obviously regular clientel. Don't show up right at meal time, because the 4 or 5 tables will probably be occupied.
One of the best places to get Thai good in Kingston. Amazing spring rolls and a really good red curry chicken. Love the owners of the place... they are always smiling and will never accept my money since we are good friends..... definitely recommend this place!
Wok-In doesn't look like much from the outside - in fact it probably gives a negative impression to a lot of people with the closed blinds - but it has Kingston's only good Thai food, and it's run by nice people. It's legitimately good Thai food, made in the proper style. The couple that runs the place has always been sweet, the food is made promptly, and when you watch them prepare it you see why you get a quality meal. It's a tiny restaurant but they're diligent about maintaining the kitchen space. It's clean, orderly, and things are ready to go and cooked fresh. The food at Wok-In does not reign supreme over, say, vendor food in Thailand, but it's quite good in its own right and in terms of what you get (ingredients, portions, and overall taste) is easily the best of its kind in Kingston. If you want authentic Thai or Cambodian food go to Wok-In, bottom line.
My family and I believe that this is most definitely one of the best restaurants in Kingston. The service was quick and very friendly. They often returned to our table to make sure we didn't need anything. The restaurant was also very clean. The food was even better, if you are someone who enjoys traditional oriental food this is THE place to go. We have returned several times already!
This place has been my favorite restaurant for Cambodian and Thai food since I was in college over six years ago. I have since graduated and moved away from Kingston, however, I find myself visiting the Wok-In every time I'm in Kingston for a visit. The owner/chef remains the same two person team since the opening of the restaurant thus the consistent quality, menu items and recipes are the same as when they first opened. The Spring rolls, the number 1(red curry) and the Pad Thai are just simply the best I've had anywhere. The portions are also very generous. The only complaint I have is the small amount of seating in the restaurant, so sometime you will have to wait a bit for a seat but I can't really blame them for that. This place is truly a MUST VISIT for Asian food enthusiasts. A definite recommendation to anyone who has not tried this place yet.
Oh my god. I've lived in Vancouver for 8 years, and still, I yearn for the Wok In. It's the best Thai I've ever had. Went back recently and it is still totally fantastic. The -- thai food we get here on the west coast just doesnt hold a candle to the delicious goodies that come out of this kitchen. :)
Its very hit and miss whether you even get a seat at this restaurant. I absolutely love it though, I highly recommend it to anyone in Kingston. Even if you don't like thai food, I brought a friend here who tried the number 18 and was amazed by it. As said by others, the service can be a little slow sometimes, but not so much more than other restaurants - I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes for my meal, which seems pretty typical for a restaurant to me!
This restaurant is a gem. Don't let its appearance turn you off...it looks like a dive at a glance, but the food is incredible. I lived in Kingston for 5 years, and moved away a year and a half ago. I was just back in town briefly and couldn't wait to go back to Wok-in. All dishes are great, but my favourite is number 12 (very spicy - green curry chicken dish), and number 2 (cilantro, tomatoes, pineapple, and chicken...also spicy but you can order without the chili peppers). During the week, if you go any time after 12 noon, you will likely be disappointed as the restaurant gets full (it's very small). So go at 11:45 or after 1:30, and you'll be fine. They make everything fresh, so sometimes it takes a while...especially if they are busy (going earlier or later assures much faster service). They open at 11:30 and are closed Sundays and Mondays. Enjoy!
Great food!! I had been reluctant to go into this place based on its location, but after being fed up with other thai places in kingston and their decent to mediocrity, i decided to give the Wok-In a try. Everything was very tasty and cheap. The presentation was great. Best Thai I've had in Kingston in two years. I have found my new Thai restaurant
I'm not a student, therefore I can afford to spend more than 5 bucks on a meal. Nevertheless, it's okay but I'd never dine in. It's okay to take home and at least you are fairly full. This appears why people rate it so highly. There is some truth to the quality not quantity adage. Hey, if you're poor go for it 4 nights a week!
I love this place. It's hard not to just eat there all the time. Yummy and cheap. My new favourite is the number 8!
I normally eat the "Spicy/sour chicken" and I get it extra spicy..I eat really hot...and its amazing..the curry is always right up to the top of the plate and it never spills over..I don’t get how perfect they do it...I have lived in Toronto and now New York City and this is the best Thai/Cambodian food I have ever tasted and the spring rolls are the best..Im trying to bribe my friends up in Canada to send some down for me... sure its a bit slow, but its a mom and pop place, they cook the food right infront of you, fresh right out of the little fridge..what more could you want in this day and age? Sit back sip some green tea and enjoy.
I eat at this restaurant at least 3 times a week and love it every time! The service can be a bit slow because they are so busy and there's just two of them, but it's worth the wait. If you like spicy, try number 12!
This place has been around forever. The food is amazing and its really cheap. I now live in Toronto and this is a must stop every time I come back here or if I'm on my way to Montreal. Great food!
