The food was pretty good; hot and served quickly. The personality of the staff, however, was AWFUL. Our party ordered in before we arrived in order to make it easier on the restaurant, and the waitress swore at us within earshot when we asked for separate checks. She was very rude and because of this I will not return.

The food was disappointing. The menu said it would be hot! And then I used up all the hot sauce on the table and it was still not hot! It did not have any taste to it. Lights too bright for dinner time as well.

I live near the restaurant, so I've been there often since its opening. Up until this year I had been going there regularly. The following are some reasons why I no longer choose to go back. Regrettably, my choice centers around the lack of consistency in the quality of their product and service. When I go to RP I primarily mainly the Pho (Vietnamese noodles in soup). What I find most disappinting and frustrating is the fact that the portion sizes varies A LOT (and not to the benefit of the customer). I order the large. In the past, the portion was filling. But now, quite a few times the large is basically a small-medium in a huge bowl. If you're looking for a filling meal of Pho, it is a gamble, there is no standardization of portion sizes. This is also reflected in the Pad Thai dish. The portion size of the Pad Thai has also changed dramatically. For the first year - year and a half that the restaurant was open, the pad thai took up the entire plate. I've witnessed the portions shrink 1/3 to now 1/2 of the plate. The plate is now "bulked up" with a "salad" of raw beansprouts or raw cabbage. Do not be deceived, it is not a salad but a cheep cover-up; a cost cutting method that leaves the customer with a bitter taste in their mouth. Now on to the service aspect of the restaurant. To be fair, most if not all the service staff are good natured, and aim to please. However, the restaurant is still lacking a host/hostess and a service floor plan. As a result of these large oversights, you can find yourself waiting at the front of the restaurant to be seated for 10+ minutes even when there are visibly empty tables. Also, this large restaurant lacks a floor plan that divides the staff amongst groups of tables. The waiter/waitresses work the whole floor. As a result, it is not unlikely that you would have to wait awhile for someone to collect your order, get cutlery, refill tea...etc. My friend often leaves the table to bring our order to the bar. I can excuse the poor service if the restaurant had just opened, and is still working out the kinks. However, it has been 2 years now - this demonstrates that management has dropped the ball on this. For these reasons, I now go to Red Papaya very infrequently (from 3 times/week, to now once every 2 months). I feel like my patronage at this restaurant is not valued. To end on a positive note, the menu is diverse, the restaurant is clean, and the bathrooms are well maintained. If you are looking for a casual dining experience, something relatively cheap, are not pressed for time, and have very little expectations - perhaps come and sample this restaurant.

Worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Waited about 20mins to get a seat. When we finally got one there was no cutlery, the waitress didn't give us any tea. We chose our orders and waited another 15mins for someone to come collect our order. They never came, I ended up going to the bar and handing it to them. The food came, eventually... still didn't have cutlery by that time so we had to ask for it, asked for tea as well. After a while the cutlery came, tea never showed up. Never going back there again.
