My husband & I decided to go out for lunch on his day off as a treat for the two of us. We decided we hadn't been to Angels in a while so let's go there, had been there many times before but after this visit we will not be returning. First our waitress was grumpy and didn't even give us water or cutlery. We ordered out sandwiches and fries. My husband ordered coffee. She brought the coffee and while he was drinking it he could see into the kitchen as we were right infron of the window. All of a sudden he said "YUCK" and I said "What?" then he said "he is doing it again" and I asked hime what he was talking about. He told me that the cook was eating off the plates as he was preparing the food. Then another guy came in and did the same thing, took food off the plate ate it and then proceeded to cook somemore food. Then he took a bite of a bun and licked his fingers and continued cooking. We asked for the manager who was very snotty and explained what we has seen. she told us that there are hand washing stations all over the kitchen and so he would have washed his hands and my husband said "I was watching and he did not even leave his station to wash his hand" and just kept nibbling on the food. Oh and 1 more thing the first waitress that we mentioned it to made the comment "well we have been very busy and he probably didn't have tome for lunch". I mean PLEASE!! he need to take a lunch break like the rest of us not have his while he is cooking someone elses food. The end result was that we cancelled out order and paid for my husnad's coffee as he did drink it and it was ok. Will never step food in there again. The staff are awful. If you dare go ask to sit by the kitchen and watch that they don't eat your food.
I was very dissapointed with my visit to Angels Diner in Guelph. My children (Ages 4 & 6) wanted orange juice with thier kids meal. The waitress advised us that the kids meal only comes with milk or pop. I asked for juice instead, and she said no. So then I asked for the manager to see about getting juice, since juice is the same price as milk. The manager-of-day-told me "no substitutions". I told her that doesn't make sense, to offer pop but not juice with a kids meal since pop is not appropriate for young kids, and she argued with me about giving pop to kids. So we left. Turns out, they would rather lose a customer (party of 3) then give juice with a kids meal. What a joke!
My steak was over cooked asked for medium rare got shoe leather!, waffle tasted sour, like old batter, bacon was rubber think it might have been sitting there for all day, eggs were over easy asked for scrabbled when i told the waitress my order was wrong i got attidute and management would not come out to speak with me. This is one place i will never visit again and do not recommend this to anyone. A total waste of my money and a total waste of my time! GARBAGE!
This visit was one of my least favorites. Joining an already busy lunch crowd, I ordered the lunch special, which consisted of a gyro, Greek salad and potatoes. The food arrived after about 15 minutes and was not what I expected. There were two little pieces of what I assume was the pita. The potatoes were not Greek, but the same greasy breakfast or home fries they serve all morning long. The salad was just that. The taziki is mayonnaise and yogurt with garlic and was the worst I ever tasted. After initially examining the meat, I was disappointed to find that it was minced and quite small. (Only about 3 or 4 ounces). I took one bite and spit it out due to the fact it was raw, cold and totally undercooked. After sending it back and mentioning to the waitress that I hoped I wouldn’t get sick, she asked if I would like to order something else. I said I would think about it. I decided to order a sandwich to go but was told I couldn’t substitute fries for the Greek salad I had gotten earlier. I was told I could pay extra for the salad. Surprising during this time no manager came to apologize or ask about the raw meat. I got up and left and decided to phone the owner and express my concern and disappointment and was quite surprised at his response. He told me that his supplier precooked the gyro meat and that I didn’t have anything to worry about. Ever eaten raw hamburger? It had the same consistency and I doubt it was precooked. At this point I was trying to express my displeasure with not being able to substitute the fries for the salad after being served raw meat and he became quite annoyed and interrupted to say that nothing would make me happy. I was not looking to be compensated and never asked to be. He asked if I had eaten there before and I indicated that I had quite a few times. He asked if I had ever had a problem before and I answered no. (with the exception of a burned hamburger) He then said,†so if only this one time what’s the big deal?†I told him raw meat is the big deal! I also wanted to tell him that the customer service I received was poor to say the least and a manager failed to appear after the raw meat was sent back. I explained to him that in my job or any job, customer service is as important as the food itself. He said look how busy the restaurant is right now, and it must be that way for some reason. Well that was the end of the conversation for me. I hope that others will read this and avoid this restaurant. With this kind of attitude, it’s the bottom line he cares about most. He cares little about his customers or feedback and is quite rude. It shows from top to bottom quite well now that this man and his restaurant are part and parcel to a disappointing experience and possibly a dangerous one at that.
