Amazing quality food, professional fine dining service.
Barrieliscious 2017, Last night,we were for an early dinner @5:00PM. We decided to sit on the patio, and it was not busy. They were just 2 tables occupied. It was extremely disappointing. The food was good, but the service was terrible. I've never been to restaurant in my life( and is not our first time @Crazy Fox) where the food came so late and I have to call the waitress 4 times to refill our glasses with water. Also we had to call the waitress to bring salt an pepper. Not going back!
Always good food and service.......it would be nice if they would update/change their menu on a more regular basis.....get a table on the 2nd floor over looking the bar/ lower level for some great people watching !!
Our recent experience with this restaurant was fabulous. We came in, within 15 minutes of the kitchen closing and yet were welcomed. We were not made to feel rushed at all, the server was fantastic. The food was perfect, excellent portion sizes, excellent presentation, and most importantly- excellent taste. 5 star all the way! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My wife and I enjoyed our rare evening out and first time at the 'Fox'. Steaks were prepared by a 'chef' and far superior than ' you know where'. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you, S&J
I thought the food was just okay for the price. The decor was somewhat outdated. Our party was large and I found the service to be fine.
I've eaten at the Crazy Fox many times and most recently I brought one of my friends for her first time. The decor is a little outdated but warm and pleasant and the atmosphere is lovely. We were greeted by our server who was very friendly and professional. The menu is great, and surprisingly affordable with Canadian and European influences in the dishes. Without being too overwhelming there is a large selection with something to please everyone. For our appetizers we ordered the Tandoori Calamari and Prosciutto-wrapped Goat's cheese; both dishes arrived in a timely manner and piping hot. The calamari here is the best I've ever eaten, perfectly cooked and seasoned with a delicious lime-sesame yogurt dip. The tandoori spice might scare some folks off but it is very mild and accentuates the delicate flavour of the squid. The prosciutto-wrapped goat's cheese is a combination that is surprisingly delicious. I asked for a mesclun salad instead of the beets that usually come with it and the kitchen happily obliged. We had the Miso-blackened cod and Bouillabaisse for our main courses and the cod is absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I've heard it being hailed as the best cod in the city and I'm disappointed that it wasn't included in the new menu. For dessert the chocolate pillars are a must-have! Delicious cappucino ice cream sandwiched between cinnamon-spiced brownie cake, covered in chocolate ganache and rolled in toasted almonds. It's so good, and not too chocolatey at all! Overall I rate the restaurant a five out of five. The service and atmosphere are great, and the food is absolutely top-notch. What some people don't understand is that good, quality food takes time and care to create -- don't expect everything to appear in seconds! When you want to have a real dining experience, leave the kids with a sitter, take your time, and come with an open mind.
One word - fantastic! We went here last Saturday night for my friends birthday. It was our first time, but had heard good things about it. The ambiance was nice & relaxing, wait staff was terrific...food was absolutely delicious! Nice portion sizes as well, and the presentation was great! This is real gourmet food, and the prices were reasonable for what you got. There were 4 of us, and we were all extremely pleased with our meals. I would return in a heartbeat and would definately recommend this place - its fabulous!
The service was friendly enough, but got almost too friendly, The waiter and a hostess kept hovering around and near our table all evening making a private conversation impossible. The drinks were bad, I ordered a manhatten and got triple sec in club soda. The food lacked flavor. The restaurant was very well decorated however, and it was a very romantic setting. I would try it again to try some other things on the menu before I condemned it.
over cooked&dry pheasant lack of flavour, great wait staff ,appetizers very tastey ,the salomon /lobster how can i say nicely did not sit well after we got home.
Tried it out during the summer Barrielicious deal (as well as a few other restaurants). Great meal! They didn't skimp on the meal like another barrielicious restaurant did! awesome atmosphere, great night
My boyfriend and I stopped into the Crazy Fox after a long day of travelling; not from the area, we certainly weren't overly dressed up and had no idea what to expect. We came in shortly before closing time and given that we are both slow eaters, our waitress had to stay for quite some time to wait for us to finish up. Whereas many servers would be visibly annoyed by the inconvenience, she was charming and lovely. Her wine suggestions were impeccable and the food was wonderful. The only complaint either of us was that the there was very little seasoning on any of the food. While this was a refreshing experience given that so many places over-season their food, we both agreed that the food could have been cooked in such a way as to bring out the natural flavours of the food. Other than that minor criticism, we were very impressed and will make a point of returning, perhaps a little earlier in the evening!
I took my wife to the Crazy Fox for our 5th Wedding Anniversary-we were surprised to have live FREE entertainment whom I wouldnt have had issue paying a cover charge to hear!! The ambience is casual /informal which encouraged a dance to our wedding song. The staff allowed for our private conversation all the while ensuring our wine was topped off and all our dishes arriving hot and timely. A cast of mature/knowlegdeable staff do make a difference!! We had one anniversary in Vegas at a 5 star hotel-Coos' Yellow fin and rack of lamb were bar-none the best in the business. I've read some of the poor reviews-its not a place if your hurried/stressed to get in and out with a TODDLER! Enjoy, relax, catch up with your spouse over an excellent wine, and savour every bite..........
We have dined in most of the restaurants in Barrie except Crazy Fox Bistro. After hearing many good things, decided to give it a try. Was not disappointed. The Chef's Platter was a great idea, five different appetizer's changed nightly by the chef. Great opportunity to sample different creations. Ours included crab cake, pork spring rolls, shrimp cocktail, beef tenderloin and chicken satay. Very good, enough to share with two. The wine was a bottle that the restaurant was recommending that evening. A bottle not available in the LCBO so decided to try and again was very good. The main dishes were fantastic. The Lamb Lollipops were incredible. Haven't seen lamb racks that big in a restaurant in awhile. The duck was very flavourful, however a little on the tough side. Even with this factor, there was nothing left on the plate. Our server was very polite and very helpful in helping us decide. She was very honest with the menu, something not seen too often. We were very impressed and would definitely return. Thanks for a great evening!!
Thought we would try this restaurant during the Barrielicious festival since we have never been there before. IT WAS AWESOME! Best kept secret in Barrie.... Will be back
i am the dish washer for the crazy fox bistro im sure that most people who read this dont care what i think because i work there but on one night in perticular we were very busy because of barrielicious after we were done the head chef/part owner coos made me and everyone else a delishious meal the meat litterally melted in my mouth i would recommend all people who love food to go to this restaurant.
Not sure why people are giving bad reviews. I frequently visit the Fox, never had bad service, Owners themselves greeted me. Pleasurable experience every time. I guess some people are bad customers.
The Crazy Fox is by far the BEST restaurant in Barrie. It appalls me that poor reviews have been posted. This is an establishment for those that can appreciate amazing food and atmosphere. The servers are certainly hired for their years of experience, wine & food knowledge and are clearly hand-picked for thier personality and charm. Our server made our evening memorable, as always. I hold all my business meetings, seminars and celebrations at the Crazy Fox. The owner is always 100% accomodating and meets all of our needs without question. My clients and colleagues are always completely impressed with the entire dining experience from start to finish. This is the ONE restaurant in Barrie that I am confident to recommend to anyone, for any and all occasions. It's no wonder why they have been in "Where to Eat in Canada" for so many years and have been listed as one of Canada's Top 100 Restaurants. They prove themselves on each of my visits.
It was my Mom's birthday and i thought it would be a good idea to take her out for a special dinner, something we dont get to do too often. We made reservations for a friday night. It looked very busy when we arrived but we were promptly seated. My mom ordered a Chilean Crab salad which looked almost too beautiful to eat. The staff was very friendly, always smiling and fast. Our main courses arrived minuets after we finished our salad. the food was terrific, the staff was fast friendly and courteous. Me and my mom will most definently be coming back.
The service always goes above and beyond my expectations. The food is always so creative in both its taste and presentation, but the portion size is amazing for a fine dining spot. The atmosphere is an anything goes type...it is elegant yet casual. You'd be welcome in a tux or a pair of jeans! I would not think of going anywhere else to eat in Barrie.
