Born and raised Vancouverite and hospitality industry "lifer" Fiona Grieve left the city a decade ago with a plan: to work as hard as she could as a waitress in Toronto and save her tips so she could return to Vancouver’s West End and open her very own restaurant. In 2013, she made that dream come true and opened Buckstop, a 32-seat barbecue joint on Denman Street.
After a career spent working in French and Italian restaurants, why barbecue? “I just love it: it’s messy and hands on and comfortable. Oh, and it’s meat, which is an easy thing to love,” jokes Fiona. “I spent six years as a vegetarian and I’ve been making up for it ever since.”
Buckstop quickly scored a place on the prestigious Eater.com’s The Essential 38 Vancouver Restaurants and a glowing review in the Globe and Mail for their “smoky, home-style fare... cooked with pride and care.” After just a year in business, clearly European cuisine’s loss is Southern-style barbecue’s gain.

Hands-down our favourite place to bring friends and family. There is something on the menu for everyone and we love the food. The service is super friendly and the cocktails are awesome! I hope it stick around the neighbourhood for long!
