What is the story behind Sugar ‘n Ice? Owner Amira Ladha explains she wanted a name that was both classy and catchy for her bakery, which specializes in designer cakes and sweet treats. 'Sugar' was chosen to represent baking while 'Ice' was selected to conjure up the bling that goes hand in hand with weddings (which happen to be a large part of her business).
Baking had always been a hobby for Amira, which she credits partially to her mom. “My mother’s pound cake is famous,” she explains. Amira fine-tuned her innate baking talents at New York City’s prestigious International Culinary Centre, and then went on to start her own at-home baking business. In 2015 she realized that she wanted to take her business to the next level and decided to open her own bakeshop.
