I've seen 2 vets and 2 vet assistants. All were excellent, kind and careful with my dog (Robby), open to discussion with me, and took the time needed. I never felt rushed. I was also impressed that front line staff took the trouble to call me and enquire about Robby, after I had to take him to the Vet ER (CIVEH) because the clinic was too busy to see him that day (Saturday). I felt no risk of "falling through the cracks". I've only had 2 visits so far, but I'm glad I've chosen Mahalo.
My bearded dragon developed a limp over the weekend. I sent an email on Sunday, received a call a few hours later to bring him in.
The staff was so kind, took time to explain everything. They also gave us contact info for a lady that could help us with enclosure questions as well as give us info on the best food suppliers near us.
We didn’t feel rushed, money was talked about up front before doing any testing.
I 1000% recommend this vet.

First rate veterinary care from extremely knowledgeable and caring staff for dogs, cats and all sorts of other creatures. There is no desire to "treat and street" here, they want to actually diagnose the issue so you can make appropriate decisions moving forward. I always find there is a thorough discussion of concerns (medical and financial). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great service, very friendly The time that was taken to get to know my dog and understand her was impressive. I did not feel rushed out the door.
No judgement was passed in what my decision was for my dog and her medical situation. I was given alternatives right away.
My chihuahua had amazing care. Staff were efficient and pleasant. The vet gave comprehensive reports twice during the day.

This Vet is not the place to take senior pets or pets with chronic disease. The followup is nonexistent, test results were not forthcoming. The Vets communication skills were sadly lacking.Services were promised but Never Delivered .
They are amazing! You don’t feel hurried, the vets are patient and take the time to really explain any issues. They are brilliant with emergencies too.
I cannot recommend this vet enough.
In the two times I dealt with this vet they wanted to RIP me off with a 100$ emergency fee on top of the 90$ examination fee. The first time I was completely unaware of this, until they has already taken my animal in. The second time they said it was a possibility I might get charged the 100$ emergency fee. When asking for an exact answer I was told I would be charged it as the reptile vet works on their own hours and was only around today so it was considered an emergency. Do not recomend.
This Vet offers a VERY unique, and FAR superior experience. I am owned by senior 11 dogs, most with special needs; including 11 dentals in the past ten months.
They have windows in every exam room so you can sit outside, on the phone while they examine and deal with your pet, unheard of with Covid. Consults are a minimum of 15 minutes; they take the time to actually get a proper history, and give you a complete explanation. They are open until 9pm, and do their own emerg/afterhours service.
This vet read my dog’s blood test results incorrectly and when I received the paperwork and emailed and phoned to question her I received no response. After a month I received a phone call and she still was reading the wrong results until I questioned what I had on paper. Then she apologized in a round about way by blaming her staff
We highly recommend Mahalo Veterinary Hospital. We have never experienced such a high level of compassion and care anywhere. Dr. Myriam, Chris and staff went above and beyond to help us with our very ill little dog, they stayed late past regular hours to make sure that she received the care that was needed. The most friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and caring veterinary hospital. So grateful to have them here in Nanaimo. Have take my (3) dogs in at different times for different reasons. They are amazing and the care is exceptional. Would highly recommend them.
