Brian Wong loves finding the perfect eyeglass frames for his clients. “It looks nice to be up to date. You are more confident if you are more updated and more fashionable,” says Brian. He opened Eye on 17th in 2010, after accumulating years of experience as an optician. “Being a business owner is a lot of fun," he says. "You get to be your own boss. You're not answering to anybody. You can have fun with the customers.”

Having fun is easy to do in the laid-back boutique setting Brian has created at Eye on 17th. He wanted a trendy, high-fashion store and knew 17th Avenue was the best spot for it. “On 17th Avenue there are all kinds of people who are funky, who like something different," he explains. "They like style and they like to be fashionable.”
